Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors have recently become a viable option for home improvement. Advances in computer imaging have really led to some beautifully designed laminate floors. Not only has the look of laminate floors really improved, so has the quality. Laminate flooring is very durable and and easy to maintain. There is no need to resurface a laminate, if there is a damaged piece simply replace it. And, that brings me to another important point, if you're buying floor you want to purchase about 7% more product than actual square footage on the job. For example if your room is 10 x 10 your square footage is 100, thus you'll want to order 107 square ft of material. This will allow for your installer to make a mistake, and provide replacement boards for any flooring that may get damaged in the future. It is very common that customers have minor damage to a few pieces of flooring and when the go back to the store they bought their flooring from they find that the company no longer makes that same color anymore or that the color has changed slightly. Saving some of your old product is insurance that you'll always have an exact match for a touch up job. Laminate floors are a good choice, don't let the snobs talk you out of it, most people cant tell the difference between one of my high end laminates and a real hardwood floor anyway!
